    A small town in the middle of Los Angeles, Silverlake is a blend of Los Angeles’s varied ethnic and cultural mix. The artsy, culturally mixed and ethnically diverse community is eclectic and proud of it. Many artists and musicians coexist comfortably with families and empty nesters. The community takes its name from Los Angeles’s oldest and most picturesque reservoir, which appears as a Silver lake from the views above.

    Located northwest of Downtown and east of Hollywood, it is one of Los Angeles’s most freeway accessible community enclaves. The Golden State (5), Hollywood (101) , Harbor/Pasadena (11) and the Santa Monica (10) freeways may be as little as five minutes away. Adjacent to Los Angeles’s largest park, Griffith Park and only minutes from Dodger Stadium, The Hollywood Bowl, The Music Center and the new Disney Opera House, Silverlake offers easy access to the best of Los Angeles. The annual Sunset Junction street Fair celebrated the communities diversity. The community center at one end of Silverlake’s small town center serves as a focal point for numerous summer evening outdoor events.

    There are more architecturally esteemed homes per square mile in Silverlake than in any other part of the city. Rudolph Schindler and Richard Neutra (who worked for Frank Lloyd Wright) designed many of the homes in the community. Spanish Mediterranean is the defining style in Silverlake. Many opulent homes are sprinkled throughout the higher altitudes of the communities seven hills, however, it is still possible to purchase a hillside property for a reasonable amount.
